What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat

Hi. I’m Elise and I am a recovering dieter. I’ve talked about this a bit before but I am just starting to explore what that means for myself and the future of accepting my body. This book is phenomenal for all of us broken by diet culture (read: everyone). Breaking down the sordid and sometimes racist history of diet culture, the science of why diets don’t actually work and some real receipts showing that being fat doesn’t mean being unhealthy, I wished I could implant this book into my brain for future clap backs. It is wonderfully written and the perfect length for someone who doesn’t love non-fiction. Aubrey co-hosts one of my favorite podcasts, Maintenance Phase. You can also find her on instagram @yrfatfriend. Just trying to work al mediums of Aubrey into my life because she is refreshing, insightful and funny.

Do I recommend: Yes and try and get your mom to read it
