We unfortunately have all learned the name Brock Turner. The man who sexually assaulted someone on the Stanford campus and was convicted with very minor sentencing. The name we all need to learn is of the incredible woman he assaulted who had the strength to confront him and share her story with the world. Replace the brain cells knowing Brock Turner with CHANEL MILLER.

This incredible memoir shows what happened to Chanel from the day she was assaulted through the hell we put sexual assault victims through during trial and after. Because unlike other victims of violent assaults, sexual assault victims are seemingly on trial too. Her sexual past, alcohol consumption and personality are all ravaged to decide if maybe Chanel wanted or deserved to be attacked. This book is insanely heartbreaking but unfortunately shows how standard this all is for sexual assault victims. Chanel reclaims her voice from her attacker and shares it with the world. She is an incredible writer and I can’t wait to read more from her in the future.
